ASUS and Gigabyte are preparing for a 25% drop in motherboard sales at once

ASUS and Gigabyte have revised their forecasts for motherboard shipments by the end of this year, DigiTimes reports citing industry sources.
Both companies account for almost 70% of the global supply of these components.
By the end of this year, both makers expect their sales to be about 25% lower than they were last year.Image source: ASUSThe first sign of a slowing motherboard market was the drop in demand in the second quarter.
It was even more significant than analysts predicted.
The latter now believe that demand will continue to fall in the third and possibly even the fourth quarter.Experts call the main reason for the decline in sales of graphics cards from the protracted deficit.
ASUS and Gigabyte took advantage of the shortage of graphics and drove sales of their motherboards by selling bundles of motherboard and graphics cards.
The gas pedal shortage peaked last year.
Back then, one of the few ways to buy a new graphics card was to buy a variety of computer hardware kits that included scarce graphics gas pedals.
In some individual cases, consumers even had to buy a whole finished computer to get a brand new GeForce RTX 30-series graphics card or Radeon RX 6000.
DigiTimes sources say an additional factor in the decline of motherboards sales is the drop in demand for these components in China - one of the major markets.ASUS expects a roughly 24% drop in sales of its motherboards, and Gigabyte - by 27%.
The first company plans to ship 14 million motherboards, while the second - 9.5 million.
Also, analysts predict the overall decline in motherboard shipments for the year by about a quarter.
If last year about 40 million boards were delivered to the market, this year the deliveries of only 30 million boards are forecasted.

At the heart of the system with a capacity of only 14 liters is a 12-core Intel Core i7-12700K and a GeForce RTX 3070 graphics gas pedal with 8 GB of memory.Image source: GigabyteThe main feature of this gaming PC is its cooling system.
We haven't used liquid cooling for such a compact PC even though we thought it was a good idea.
Instead, Gigabyte has developed a special air-cooling system that is literally the centerpiece of this gaming PC, to which the main elements are attached.
The cooling system consists of a large central radiator and several heat pipes that connect to the video card and CPU radiators.
At the bottom is a fan that draws in cool air from the two side grilles of the PC case.
At the top is another fan that expels hot air.
The size of the fans is 120 and 140 mm.
The manufacturer claims that the noise level of the system does not exceed 40 dBA under intensive gaming loads, which is impressively low for such a compact computer.
The Aorus Model S uses a Mini-ITX motherboard based on the Intel Z690 chipset.
The system also offers 32GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and two 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs each.

Gigabyte shows Aorus Xtreme, Aorus Master, Aorus Pro AX and Aero D for Ryzen 7000 processors

Computex 2022 is in hybrid format and TechPowerUp got a chance to see live the motherboards that Gigabyte prepares for upcoming Ryzen 7000 processors.
The manufacturer brought four models to the event: X670E Aorus Xtreme, X670E Aorus Master, X670E Aero D and X670 Aorus Pro AX.Image source: TechPowerUp / GigabyteGigabyte plans to release many more different board models, including those based on the AMD B650 chipset.
But their appearance will have to wait until the Ryzen 7000 series release.
Some models based on B650 will be as expensive and equipped as lower-end models based on AMD X670 chipset.
By the way, it should be recalled that AMD X670 and X670E chipsets essentially consist of two B650 chips.
The difference between X670 and X670E chipsets, at least according to Gigabyte, is a PCIe 5.0 compliant x16 slot for graphics cards.
Gigabyte X670 Aorus Pro AXThe youngest of the boards shown by the company was the X670 Aorus Pro AX.
The manufacturer also plans to release an Elite-version of this model, the Pro version will cost less.
There is one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and one PCIe 3.0 x2 slot.
The last two of these slots are the same as the first x16 slot, so there is also one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot and one PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot.
It has two USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C (20Gbps) connectors.
One of them is displayed on the front panel, the second is displayed on the back.
There is also USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10Gbps) port, but the manufacturer does not specify whether it supports DisplayPort alternative mode.
Gigabyte X670 Aorus Pro AXThe X670 Aorus Pro AX has a 16+2+2 power sub-system (each phase is rated at 90A), 2.5 Gbps network adapter managed by Intel, Wi-Fi 6E module, six SATA III ports, several USB Type-A ports and one DispalyPort and HDMI output each.
A pair of 3.5mm audio jacks and one S/PDIF jack are in addition.
There are also half a dozen connectors for additional fans, BIOS reset, start and reset buttons.
You can expect to pay just over $300 for this board.
Gigabyte X670E Aero DThe X670E Aero D, like previous Aero boards, is targeted at digital content creators or those who want fast memory subsystem capabilities.
It's equipped with a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot.
In addition, this is the only board from Gigabyte that offers USB4 support.
The ASMedia ASM4242 controller provides two USB4 ports on the back panel.
They also support DisplayPort alternative mode and Thunderbolt 3.0 standard.
Gigabyte X670E Aero DThere is also one M.2 PCIe 5.0 slot and three M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots.
Gigabyte let us take a picture of the back of the board, which shows the SMD components of the two X670E chipset chipsets on the left side, surrounded by four heatsink screws.
Gigabyte X670E Aero DIn this novelty, the company has also introduced a function of quick video card removal with a special mechanism with a button.
This was first seen on the ASUS Z690 for Alder Lake processors.
The X670E Aero D has the same lower two slots for PCIe x16 as the X670 Aorus Pro AX.
And in the rest of its features the model is similar to the board above.
Gigabyte X670E Aero DThe nice addition here is the POST codes indicator as well as a small design element in the form of a leather tag with the inscription Aero on the upper M.2 radiator.
The X670E Aero D will cost under $400.
Gigabyte X670E Aorus MasterThe X670E Aorus Master board doesn't get USB4 support, but has two M.2 PCIe 5.0 slots.
The model has a 16+2+2 VRM power subsystem.
Each phase is designed for a current of 105A.
The heat sink with heat pipe on the power elements draws attention.
But otherwise this model repeats characteristics of X670E Aero D.
But different USB Type-C options with transfer rate of 20 and 10Gb/s are available here.
Gigabyte X670E Aorus MasterThe 10Gbps USB Type-C port supports alternate DisplayPort mode.
The expected price of the X670E Aorus Master will be slightly lower than the X670E Aero D at around $360.
The X570S Aorus Master for the Ryzen 5000 was released for about the same price.
Gigabyte X670E Aorus XtremeThe X670E Aorus Xtreme, representing the senior segment.
It uses the same VRM power subsystem as the previous model.
The biggest difference is support for four M.2 PCIe 5.0 slots.
However, we had to sacrifice one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for this, reducing the number of available lanes to eight.
Gigabyte X670E Aorus XtremeThe X670E Aorus Xtreme is the only board on the list to claim 10 Gigabit LAN support.
For its operation

Gigabyte will release a Project Stealth kit that allows you to build a PC with absolutely all hidden cables

Gigabyte will release a Project Stealth kit that allows you to build a PC with absolutely all hidden cables

Gigabyte will release a Project Stealth kit that allows you to build a PC with absolutely all hidden cables

Gigabyte late last year introduced an interesting gaming PC concept in which all power wires of a particular component were located on the inside of the motherboard, not on the outside.
This approach not only improves the aesthetics of the final assembly, but also improves air circulation inside the system.
Today, the company said it has decided to commercialize the concept.Image source: GigabyteThe last time we checked, the drawback of such a concept is the need for specially designed computer cases, motherboards and graphics cards, with power connectors not in the usual places but hidden from the user.
Despite the really interesting idea, without the support of third-party manufacturers of these components, it will not be possible to bring it to the general market as a new standard.
On the other hand, Gigabyte could try to implement the idea itself.
After all, the manufacturer itself produces motherboards, graphics cards and computer cases.
It looks like the company decided to do just that.Gigabyte has announced a Project Stealth kit.
It includes Z690 Aorus Elite Stealth motherboard, GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC Stealth graphics card, and Aorus C300G Stealth case.
Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite Stealth Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC Stealth The motherboard has I/O connectors moved to the back side.
Not only will this allow for easier connection of all wires to the board since there will be more space inside for work, but it will also improve air circulation inside the case and its cooling since there will be no obstacles in the way of air flow in the form of cables.
The connectors for power cables of the graphics card have been moved to the bottom side of the gas pedal, directed deep into the case.
This modernization will also help to cool the whole system and connect the power cable more conveniently.
The Aorus C300G Stealth case has larger holes in the motherboard mounting area.
All this is done to make it easier to connect all cables.
Thanks to this solution, most of the cables will be fixed at the back side of the case to provide good cooling of the whole system.
You can see the appearance of the final system assembly in the pictures below.
They can be opened in full size.
The Aorus Project Stealth kit will be available in two variations.
The first will offer an Intel Core i7 processor, a 360mm HDD, 32GB of memory, a 2TB SSD and a 750W power supply.
The second one has a Core i5 processor, air cooler CPU, 32 GB of RAM, 2 TB SSD and a 650 watt power supply.
The manufacturer did not specify when these solutions will be available for sale.
However, in the USA, the company decided to work with MAINGEAR, an OEM of gaming computers, which will assemble the gaming systems with the new components in mind.
