Imagination will license some GPUs and AI gas pedals for free to start-up companies

Imagination has launched its Open Access program, under which it will provide some proprietary developments to young companies for free.
The company is willing to license four PowerVR Series8XE GPUs and three PowerVR Series3NX AI gas pedals for free.
This will significantly reduce the cost barrier for creating advanced IoT and AI solutions for smart homes, smart cities, smart factories, kiosks and signage, healthcare and more.Image source: Imagination \"Building a differentiated SoC from scratch is a costly undertaking that requires significant expertise and resources.
Companies choose integrated circuits because they reduce the costs and risks associated with R&D, allowing them to focus on product differentiation.
Imagination Open Access gives customers early access to silicon-proven integrated circuits, reducing overall risk and providing assistance through technical expertise, best-in-class tools and ongoing technical support,\" Imagination said in a press release. What is exempt from licensing fees.

Growing companies can take off-the-shelf solutions and build their own products in no time at all, reducing risk and accelerating the time to profit. The only costs will be for technical support and maintenance.
Image source: ImaginationIt should be said that Imagination not only provides customers with proven development (GPUs and AI gas pedals) and technical support for projects, but also with training materials, especially valuable for university courses.
This is all the more important because the company has also turned to the RISC-V architecture with open-source processor circuitry and code sets.
By doing so, Imagination's ecosystem of open source solutions potentially encompasses the entire range of computing products in their final form: both processor and graphics units.

China's Innosilicon has unveiled FANTASY GPUs that are 'as good' as those from AMD and NVIDIA

Chinese company Innosilicon & ; one of the world's largest specialists in ASICs and systems for miners & ; peculiarly congratulated everyone with the coming New Year. The company announced that it will soon start shipping discrete graphics cards based on FANTASY GPUs. These will be data centre solutions «not worse than AMD and NVIDIA offerings. But details have not been announced by the developer yet.

Innosilicon FANTASY GPUs were first unveiled a month ago at China's first global 5G conference. The conference was held in Guangzhou from November 26 to 28. According to the company, «China's first data centre GPU demonstrated by INNOSILICON was the centre of attention and a milestone in the technological breakthrough in major 5G applications». «The FANTASY processor is ideally optimised for graphical big data applications such as multi-server cloud desktop, cloud gaming, cloud office, etc. The FANTASY data centre GPU enables deployment of 5G infrastructure using the most advanced SOC innovations, such as chipset and high-speed GDDR6» & ; says Innosilicon in a press release.

If you remove all the «water» from the press release, we are talking about GPUs based on Imagination's high-performance BXT graphics cores. Imagination introduced new graphics cores in October of this year, and Innosilicon has reached an agreement with the company to use the most powerful of the proposed cores in GPUs and discrete graphics adapters for the high-performance computing market. We await details!
