GeForce RTX 4090 tested at 8K resolution - 520 FPS in Overwatch 2

GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card was tested in games at 8K resolution.
For this purpose, YouTube channel The Tech Chap assembled a new computer based on Ryzen 9 7950X and flagship Samsung TV supporting the appropriate resolution - 7680 × 4320 pixels.Image source: YouTube / The Tech СharIt should be noted that when the flagship graphics card of last generation GeForce RTX 3090 was announced, NVIDIA has positioned it as \"the first solution for gaming in 8K\".
However, two years after its release, displays with support for 8K resolution have still not conquered the market.
Such solutions remain niche and very expensive.
Most display manufacturers produce monitors with resolution up to 4K, sometimes there are 5K models.
And 8K is found only in televisions, and they can be considered a rarity.
But YouTube channel The Tech Chap decided to see how GeForce RTX 4090 copes with 8K.Test system was equipped with a flagship 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X on architecture Zen 4, motherboard ASUS ROG Maximus X670E Hero and 32 GB RAM standard DDR5-6200.
The PC was connected to a 65-inch Samsung Neo QLED QN800B 8K TV for $3500.
The graphics card performance was tested in today's demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 5 and others.
In Cyberpunk 2077 flagship GeForce RTX 4090 provided 8K speed up to 65 frames per second, but only with activated AI scaling DLSS 3 - without it the game at this resolution did not go.
In turn, GeForce RTX 3090 was able to provide only 28 FPS, also only with DLSS.
True, the old flagship uses less advanced DLSS 2.1.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator the result of GeForce RTX 4090 at 8K resolution was 81 frames per second.
Also with activated AI scaling.
In its turn RTX 3090 showed nearly twice less result - 46 FPS.
In Forza Horizon 5 game the average performance of new flagship in 8K was 76 FPS without DLSS.
Also the card was tested in Overwatch 2, where it gave 520 FPS.
This is twice as much as the GeForce RTX 3090 at the same settings.
DLSS was not used in this test as well.
Call of Duty: Warzone and Crysis Remastered also took part in the tests.
In the latter case DLSS and ray tracing were activated.
GeForce RTX 4090 in Crysis Remastered at 8K resolution showed 65 FPS, and in CoD: Warzone - 117 FPS.
Also recall that yesterday published a full review of the flagship graphics card GeForce RTX 4090.
The main points from them can be found in a separate article.

GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 16GB can conquer 3.0 GHz, leaks show

GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 16GB can conquer 3.0 GHz, leaks show

GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 16GB can conquer 3.0 GHz, leaks show

Graphics processors of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards can run at 3.0 GHz.
This is indicated by leaks collected by VideoCardz.
Recall that the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GPUs have officially announced clock speeds of 2520 and 2505 MHz under load, respectively.Image source: BillibiliSam NVIDIA previously demonstrated that the GeForce RTX 4090 is able to run up to 2.85 GHz under load and without additional overclocking.
The transition to the new architecture Ada Lovelace and more advanced GPU manufacturing process in next-generation graphics cards, apparently, also laid a huge potential for additional manual overclocking of new gas pedals.
According to a leak appeared in the Chinese social network Bilibili, in the stress test graphics subsystem with MSI Kombustor application graphics processor GeForce RTX 4090 card worked without problems at 3.0 GHz, while the power consumption of the whole graphics card was almost 426 W.
On this basis, we can assume that in less stressful conditions, the graphics card chip will be able to work at 3.1 GHz.
In addition, in the stress test Furmark GPU GeForce RTX 4090 worked at 2.64 GHz, but the peak power consumption of the video card was almost 616 W.
Recall that the officially announced power consumption figure GeForce RTX 4090 is 450 watts.Unfortunately, the leak does not disclose data on the temperature performance of the GPU and other elements on the graphics card.
According to another leak, GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is also capable of running at 3.0 GHz.
It is very likely that here we are also talking about additional manual overclocking of the gas pedal.
The data was provided by the same source which previously reported on the performance of the graphics card in the synthetic tests 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra and 3DMark Time Spy.
Source image: ChirhellThe new leak indicates that the maximum temperature of the graphics processor was 60.8 ° C, and the hottest point of the graphics card temperature reached 75.4 ° C.
According to GPU-Z software, the peak power consumption of the gas pedal was 333W and 290.7W for the GPU.
Recall that the official stated power consumption figure GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is 320 watts.
Source image: CrystalThe overclocking performance of GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics card was tested in the 3DMark Time Spy synthetic test.
Due to the higher frequency after manual overclocking the gas pedal got away from its competitors even more, as you can see in the table below.
Source image: VideoCardzThe flagship GeForce RTX 4090 will go on sale on October 12.
Its recommended price is $1599.
The GeForce RTX 4080 16GB will go on sale in November.
Its suggested price is $1199.

Intel Arc A380 graphics card tested for compatibility with 50 games of different years - the result surpassed the expectations

German edition of PC Games Hardware managed to get hold of Intel Arc A380 graphics gas pedal and conducted its full-scale testing.
However, journalists didn't focus on the graphics performance of this graphics card, but on its compatibility with popular games, having tested it in 50 projects released between 1999 and 2022.Image source: VideoCardzAt the moment, Intel graphics have serious problems with games using not the latest graphics API DirectX 11 and DirectX 9.
As Intel itself said earlier, it's focusing on optimizing Arc graphics for games with Vulkan and DirectX 12.
In other words, we should expect very mediocre performance from Arc cards in old gaming tittles.
We should clarify that Intel didn't refuse to optimize old games on old APIs.
The recently released Arc Graphics Driver 31.0.101.3276 Beta removes a large part of the problems with game compatibility and the functionality of the Arc Control software for managing Intel Arc graphics.
However, the company still has a lot of problems and bugs related to its graphics card software to fix.PC Games Hardware notes that most of the games tested on the Arc A380 graphics card, including very old ones, were compatible with Arc graphics, which is a very good result, especially considering that Intel is a newcomer to the discrete graphics market.
With problematic games, journalists noticed visual artifacts when using SSAO and HBAO+ anti-aliasing settings, texture problems and freezes.
The only game out of 50 that refused to run on Arc A380 was Max Payne 2.
This game uses a DirectX 8 API.
A full list of tested games and information on their compatibility with the Arc A380 can be found in the table below.
Green marked games that work without problems, yellow - bugs, red - critical errors.
Source image: PC Games HardwareWhich writes portal VideoCardz, Intel will likely introduce a more productive graphics gas pedals Arc 7 series (A750 and A770) next month.
These graphics cards can compete with the most popular models of NVIDIA and AMD current generation.
However Intel solutions will not be able to compete with the flagships.
Also not too good for Intel is the fact that these companies in the near future will present graphics cards on new architectures, which would complicate the Intel's position even more.

Intel has published tests of the Arc A750 graphics card in 48 games where it beats the GeForce RTX 3060

Intel has shared the performance of the Arc A750 desktop graphics gas pedal in several dozen games.
The data was published on the official website.
On average, the graphics card was 3-5% faster than the GeForce RTX 3060.Image source: IntelIntel has published an article and video on its website, which paid attention to the Arc A750 video card performance in games running on modern graphics APIs DirectX 12 and Vulkan.
According to the company's representatives Ryan Shrout (Ryan Shrout) and Tom Petersen (Tom Petersen), the list of games for testing were projects that are popular on Steam, interesting to players and used by video card reviewers.
Gameplay testing was conducted at 1080p and 1440p resolutions.
In DirectX 12 games, at 1080p resolution and Ultra quality settings, Intel graphics card was on average 3% faster than GeForce RTX 3060, while in 1440p games at quality settings \"High\" it was 5% faster.
In addition, in 1440p the Arc A750 delivered more than 60 frames per second in most selected games. In Vulkan games such as Rainbow Six Extraction, Dota 2 and Doom, the Intel graphics card also looks decent - its performance is on par with the competition.
At the same time, performance at 1440p resolution was slightly higher than the GeForce RTX 3060, and at 1080p resolution slightly lower.Intel Arc A750 vs GeForce RTX 3060 in games 7tDzGdLLuqh9YodaEGpX26.

The gas pedal probably has 24 Xe cores, 3072 shader blocks and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with 192-bit bus support.
Intel used EVGA's GeForce RTX 3060 XC Gaming in the comparison.
This is one of the fastest versions of the GeForce RTX 3060 on the market.
Its GPU runs at 1882 MHz.
Both cards were tested as part of an Intel Core i9-12900K-based PC with 32GB (2x16GB) of DDR5-4800 (Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5-5200 CL38).
These tests were done under Windows 11.
Image source: VideoCardz Image source: VideoCardzIt should also be noted that Arc A750 tests used a pre-release video driver, while GeForce RTX 3060 used GeForce 516.59 WHQL driver.
As entry-level Arc A380 reviews show, Intel's driver for Arc graphics cards still needs some serious tweaking.Intel admits that Arc graphics perform worse in games on older graphics APIs, so it chose only games running DirectX 12 and Vulkan for comparison.

Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX tests: 15-20% faster than last generation and up to 45% faster than competitors

Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX tests: 15-20% faster than last generation and up to 45% faster than competitors

Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX tests: 15-20% faster than last generation and up to 45% faster than competitors

Puget Systems, a high-performance PC, workstation and server company, has tested Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX HEDT processors in several professional applications.
The new series of chips, which debuted in March in workstations Lenovo P620 and recently appeared in retail, was significantly faster than its predecessors Ryzen Threadripper 3000, as well as competitors in the form of Intel Xeon W-3300.Image source: AMDA AMD itself has promised for Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX a 19 percent increase in IPC (number of instructions executed per clock), but in some tests the performance of new products was up to 35 percent higher than that of the last generation chips.
The new Zen 3 cores, unified L3 cache and increased clock speeds, as the number of cores remains the same as in the previous Zen 2 series.Image source here and below: Puget SystemsDespite the same number of cores, multi-threaded performance of the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX has improved significantly over the previous generation.
The 64-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX, 32-core 5975WX, 24-core 5965WX, 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 3995WX, 32-core 3975WX and 16-core 3955WX participated in the tests.
From Intel were the 24-core Xeon W-3365 and W-3345, the 16-core W-3335 and the 16-core consumer flagship Core i9-12900K (Alder Lake).
In Adobe Premiere Pro, the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX, 5975WX and 5965WX models were 10-20% faster than all Xeon models in the comparison, and also outperformed the previous generation Ryzen Threadripper models by 7-23%.
The exception was the consumer Core i9-12900K, which scored the highest in the test.
All thanks to more powerful video encoding and decoding capabilities.
However, AMD chips lagged behind it by only a few percent.
Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX regained the leadership in the Adobe After Effects test, outperforming all Intel chips and its own predecessors of the 3000-series.
In Davinci Resolve the situation did not change.
However, the difference between the performance of the processors has decreased.
Despite this, all Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX models were ahead.
The Adobe Photoshop test was again in favor of the Core i9-12900K.
It beat everyone, including the 64-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX flagship.
In second place was the 24-core 5965WX, followed by the 32-core 5975WX, 47 points back.
All this is due to the fact that Photoshop is not able to load all Ryzen Threadripper cores, and the Alder Lake chip with higher frequency and IPC level wins here.
The Adobe Lightroom Classic test results can be considered a true anomaly.
The 24-core 5965WX easily outperformed all rivals in this test.
Even the 64-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX took only 5th place in the ranking here and unexpectedly lost to the 32-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3975WX and the 16-core Core i9-12900K.
Perhaps Lightroom algorithms do not work well with 64-core chips, as there were no oddities in this test with models with fewer cores.
The results of Cinebench R23 hardly need any further comments.
In single threaded tests we expectedly see the victory of Core i9 due to higher frequency and architecture, but in multithreaded tests we have no equal with the flagship Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX - it is about 10 thousand points ahead of its predecessor.
Other landmark tests were Unreal Engine and Blender.
Both rely on multithreading.
Overall, Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 were 12-15% faster than the previous generation models.
Intel solutions lost by 35-45%.
Even the 32-core Xeon W-3365 could not catch up with the 24-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5965WX.
Ryzen Threadripper 5000WX series of HEDT processors can be surely called the best of its kind.
Its representatives are definitely faster than Xeon W-3000 and Ryzen Threadripper 3000 models.
The advantage of new processors is from 15 to 45 percent, depending on the particular test and competitor's model.
This makes the Ryzen Threadripper 5000WX series of chips a very smart choice as a workstation base.
They are capable of outperforming anything Intel has to offer in this segment.
The exception is, as mentioned above, the consumer Core i9-12900K, which proved to be faster in some Adobe applications.
But here we have to look at the needs of the user.

Intel says the Arc A730M and Arc 770M mobile graphics cards are faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3060

Intel has announced the official performance data for its Arc 770M and Arc A730M mobile graphics gas pedals in games.
The information was shared by Tom's Hardware.
Both graphics cards are available in a number of notebooks, which are sold only in China so far.
Exit systems with these gas pedals at the international market is expected in late summer.Image source: IntelAll mentioned mobile graphics cards Arc A7 series are based on a graphics chip Alchemist ACM-G10.
Data about their performance obtained from the official Intel press release, which was distributed to Chinese technology bloggers.Perhaps the most important information in the document is the positioning of the Arc 770M as a competitor to the mobile GeForce RTX 3060.
In turn, the Arc A730M is opposed by Intel to the mobile GeForce RTX 3050 Ti.
No comparison of the senior card with a more productive GeForce RTX 3070 and the GeForce RTX 3080 is out of the question.
Despite previous rumors, it seems that Intel is not going to compete with the flagships in the mobile segment yet.The press release also specifies the configuration of laptops, in which the video cards were tested.
Unfortunately, Intel left out an important detail such as the power consumption level of its gas pedals.
Intel graphics cards have a dynamic TDP - manufacturers will be able to set the maximum power consumption within the specified range for a particular notebook.
It is also known that the Intel tests used GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3060 in versions not with the maximum TDP.
System configurations were as follows: Unknown laptop with Intel Arc A730M (TDP 80 to 120W), Core i7-12700H and 16GB of DDR5-4800 RAM;Unknown laptop with Intel Arc A770M (TDP 120 to 150W), Core i9-12900HK and 16GB of DDR5-4800 RAM; ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 with GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (TDP 60W), Core i7-11800H and 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM;MSI Pulse GL66 with GeForce RTX 3060 (TDP 85W), Core i9-12900HK, DDR5-4800 RAM unknown.
According to Intel, the Arc A730M graphics card is on average 13% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, and the older Arc A770M graphics card in turn is on average 12% faster in games than the GeForce RTX 3060.
Image source: VideoCardz according to Tom's HardwareThe conclusion is based on tests of 17 games, which were run at high or maximum graphics quality settings and a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels.
In some games, Intel's new products were inferior to NVIDIA competitors, but in many games they showed tangible superiority.

Intel Arc A380 released: slower and more expensive than Radeon RX 6400, and AMD Ryzen chips perform worse than Core

First Intel Arc Alchemist desktop graphics card has officially gone on sale.
But only in China for now.
Many Chinese media have published their reviews of the novelty, comparing it with competitors.
Yesterday from the first similar publication it was clear that Intel Arc A380 is weaker than its main competitor Radeon RX 6400.
New reviews only confirmed these conclusions and also showed that the new graphics does not get along too well with AMD Ryzen chips.
Image source: MyDriversThe Arc A380 Photon OC graphics card from Gunnir took part in all tests.
At the moment this is the only brand that has released a non-reference variant of the Intel gas pedal.
This version of the graphics card has an overclocked GPU (2450 MHz instead of the reference 2000 MHz) and slightly higher (92 W vs.
standard 75 W) level of power consumption compared to the reference version.Image source: MyDriversWccftech has got official Intel data, in which the company itself compares Arc A380 with GeForce GTX 1650 and Radeon RX 6400.
According to the table, Arc A380 is weaker than both graphics cards mentioned above.
The Arc A380's official performance data.
Image source: Intel / WccftechPortal MyDrivers pitted the Arc A380 against the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti so that the new model has at least some chance of winning.
And in this case, in almost all games, the Intel card was indeed faster than the GeForce model, released back in 2016.Image source: MyDriversAs some reviews have shown, the performance of Arc A380 in systems with AMD processors was lower than in similar systems based on Intel.
For example, in combination with AMD Ryzen 5 5600, the gas pedal proved to be 17% worse than in a PC based on Intel processor of the same level.
It's likely that this is why Intel recommends using the Arc A380 only in ResizableBAR-enabled PCs and does not guarantee the Arc A380's full performance on systems with similar AMD Smart Access Memory technology.
Intel Arc A380 performance combined with an AMD processor.
Image source: BilibiliAccording to various sources, the Intel Arc A380 can be found at Chinese retailers for 1,399 to 1,499 yuan ($210 to $225), which is more expensive than its recommended price, which is about $150, and more expensive than the Radeon RX 6400.
Some retailers offer the Arc A380 as part of off-the-shelf systems based on older 10th generation Intel Core processors.
